Amazia: A condition wherein the breast tissue is absent, but the nipple is present. Amazia typically is a result of radiation or surgery. In amazia, the breast tissue (or what tissue was scheduled to develop into a breast at adolescence) was damaged or removed.

Amazia should be distinguished from amastia, which is a significantly rarer condition wherein the breast and nipple were never present in the first place. Unfortunately, amazia and amastia are often not distinguished from one another but are erroneously seen as synonymous.
